In the spirit of thinking in different models, can you imagine this gobble-up food chain, pyramid as the square back. One way is formative/supporter/pillar/gobbled up direction, the other way is predator direction.
For organizations, they have to keep moving up with time and heft, so as to avoid the fate of being in someones belly.
Energy pyramid removes the guilt/virtue of the food chain pyramid. When it comes to organizations, see it as the Value pyramid.
